Image Base64 Data URL Encoding with PHP

Image base64 data URL encode can reduce your website's HTTP requests and make your site more faster. Because, it converts images as plane text and embed it directly in HTML or CSS page.

Image Data URL Example:
 <img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAA............=">

We can convert simple binary images to base64 data very easily with PHP base64_encode function. Let's see how we can do this:
function dataurl($img){
	// Getting data from image file
	$file = file_get_contents($img);
	// Encode binary data to base
	$data = base64_encode($file);
	return $data;
}

Usage:
<img src="data:image/png;base64,<?php echo dataurl('icon.png'); ?>">
